Aaron got Lyme last year so I know we have ticks like that around here. I have not worried much about Lyme in the past - just tried to check for ticks regularly in that season but I am feeling slightly more paranoid now that we have dealt with it two years in a row. And with it really making Jonathan's summer pretty rough - that wasn't fun. I have heard of natural treatments for Lymes (and normally I am a big fan of natural) but have heard from a lot of people (natural doctors included) that they think you should use an antibiotic when it comes to lymes - so that is what we have done. I hope that was the right decision. Both boys have recovered well following the antibiotic though so it seems to have worked fine.Abbihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01842277589160618685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-58686619581412091182016-09-26T09:13:59.591-05:002016-09-26T09:13:59.591-05:00Wow that is quite the trip! I'm so concerned about lyme but we don't live in an area with many ticks. However each year they seem to be spreading. What do you do about ticks? How is your son doing? I have a relative who got lyme this year. But not around here. She has been treating it with a lot of herbs and such, but I'm not sure what I'd do. It seems so complicated. I hope he feels better soon. God is good! We did really have a lot of fun traveling on Amtrak. I don't know if we will do it again as it wasn't super cheap and still took a fair amount of time but we truly loved the experience. I am certainly blessed with a wonderful family - I am truly grateful.Abbihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01842277589160618685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-2910594206778236892016-09-23T23:41:05.201-05:002016-09-23T23:41:05.201-05:00Thanks Melanie for sharing our adventure with us. ...Thanks Melanie for sharing our adventure with us. This is an incredible undertaking that you and your family undertook, and oh the memories that you were able to make with your kids that will last a lifetime! I'm so thankful that your encounters with bears turned out all right, and it seems that you did all the right things, and of course the Lord was with you! It must have taken a lot of work to plan all the hikes, and coordinate it with shuttles and cabins too! I've never ridden on a passenger train and you certainly made it look like something fun to do! I really enjoyed reading your story of the hike, and just want you to know, you have an extraordinary family to take on an adventure like this :) Hugs to you today dear friend!
