Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
You ...Anonymous,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
You are right that becoming a Christian is compared to Birth and Circumcision. It is also compared to a Race - one that we have to finish in order to gain the prize. Throughout the Bible we see many object lessons where a lesson is compared with some physical part of our lives. It helps us understand but it doesn't mean that it is exactly the same in every way. I think we need to look at all the verses on the subject and look at what we can understand very clearly and then draw our conclusions from that.

I am not in any way promoting that we can in some way earn our salvation. We cannot! Salvation is a free gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast. No matter how good we are, if we always follow Jesus Christ - that could not save us - Only Jesus sacrifice for our sins could save us. However we are told to be faithful unto death and then we will receive the crown of life.

I believe fully that we need to look at all that the Bible teaches - not just parts.Abbihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01842277589160618685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-59594208448271641802016-03-17T16:12:58.724-05:002016-03-17T16:12:58.724-05:00I have subscribed to your blog for a long time, bu...I have subscribed to your blog for a long time, but have sadly discontinued my subscription following this post. I don't feel that I should participate in your blog when our beliefs are so very different, and I believe unbiblical.

Our relationship with Christ (salvation) is likened to a birth, as well as circumcision. These are two acts that cannot be undone. How then could we lose our salvation? Yes, we might fall away from the Lord for a time, just as we might "lose touch" or have a rift with a friend or loved one, but our salvation is not maintained by anything that we can do or merit. It is solely an act of God's grace toward us and cannot be gained or kept through anything other than acceptance oh Christ's sacrifice. I hope you and your readers will consider this truth... Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this matter! And looking forward to getting to know you better :) Marilyn @ MountainTopSpicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00600290895531484438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-3579460352884900092016-01-08T23:23:37.612-06:002016-01-08T23:23:37.612-06:00I really appreciate all of your kind and thoughtfu...I really appreciate all of your kind and thoughtful comments. It is so encouraging to me to know of others that are truly seeking to know God's word and to live by it. God bless you all as you seek to understand God's truth.

Some more verses on this subject are: Romans 11:17-24, Hebrews 4:1-11, Hebrews 10:26 & 27, Matthew 24:45-51, Eph. 5:3-12, 1 Cor. 15:1 & 2, 1 Thess. 3:5, 2 Tim. 2:12, 2 John 1:7-9 and Eph. 6:13 & 14.
I hope these might aid in your further study.

Abbihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01842277589160618685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-53171235605736758752016-01-08T19:16:03.535-06:002016-01-08T19:16:03.535-06:00This is very interesting since I have never really...This is very interesting since I have never really read those verses in that context before. I've always been taught you cannot lose your salvation and that if a person "appears" to have lost their salvation that they weren't really saved in the first place. I will have to read into this more. Thanks for sharing.Nolanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-22588357322377642952016-01-05T23:45:18.266-06:002016-01-05T23:45:18.266-06:00Very good read. I think too of the verse in Matthew when Jesus says you will proclaim my name but I will say never knew you, get away from me. I believe people will be very surprised. It makes me sad but that's what I believe. It's a very hard subject. I'd be interested in your further study of it. I think that the important thing to remember is that no-one is ever too far away from God to be reached as long as they choose to turn towards the light ! Something good to remember when it can appear that we live in dark times !Mrs Shoestringhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14632135275029167687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720122887391988458.post-15591211430257475962016-01-04T23:25:40.881-06:002016-01-04T23:25:40.881-06:00Excellent post Abbi.
