My fun weekend.

I had a very busy and very fun weekend! (that would be why I wasn't posting.) It actually started on Thursday when Brandt and Jenny and family(and a friend) came over to Bemidji to help work on our new church building. They stayed overnight with us. We had some fun talks and it was great to spend time with them. Then on Friday we also invited all of the other workers at the church building (because we don't live very far away) over for lunch. We fed 8 workers plus women and children (18 in all I believe). It was fun.
On Friday I also worked on flowers for a wedding on Saturday. The bride had chosen a color scheme and flowers that I had a lot of fun working with. She had mostly white and green with brown and light pink accents. Above is her bouquet. Below is the groom's Boutonniere.
On Saturday morning I had to drive a while to deliver them and then I also worked on decorating the reception area with flowers. Below is one of the centerpieces.
On Sunday after church we went out to eat lunch at my parents ( a yummy ham meal!) and then afterwards we headed off to go to the twin Cities for the Labor Day Rally. Ken stayed home (to work on staining our deck and set up the Republican office) but Irindee and Keren rode down with the kids and I.

The rally was a lot of fun! We got to see christian friends from all over the country from the East Coast to the West Coast! The Theme was "The Road Less Traveled" and Paul Barber was the speaker. He did a great job and I enjoyed and learned from the sermons I heard on Submission, Community and Discipleship.

I also greatly enjoyed listening to the Quintet above (made up of Wayne, Lance and Joel Osborn, Van Palochuck and Alex Alexander). They sang a bunch of songs that had been sung by the group Accapella. Accapella and AVB had been (when they were singing) my favorite groups and I was just recently wishing that I had some of their music on CDs (instead of cassettes which I can't play) because I was wanting to listen to them. Listening to the men above was just as good, they did a great job.

We also had a fun time singing praises to God together. Listening to others like the Blanshans was also very fun. (I'm sorry I don't have better pictures of the weekend. The lighting is not good in theses 2 and they were all I took!)

We had a safe trip home last night and now we are working at getting our laundry done and getting ready to start school this week. (One of the blessings of homeschooling is getting to set your own schedule!)

I hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend as well! What were the highlight for you?

  1. It was so good seeing you at the rally. I had tons of fun and enjoyed the music tremendously. In fact, we're listening to some of it right now, and it makes me sad because I miss being with everyone. Thanks for coming.

  2. Sure Wish I could have been there. I am preaching where Paul's dad preached before he Passed on. I also LOVED listening to AVB. Looks like you had fun.

  4. Tanagar, thanks to you and all those in Fridley for all the work you guys did to make the rally a success!

Matt, Thanks for stopping by. I believe you are probably where one of Paul's uncles preached.

Carrie, They are talented and it was fun to have them sing. It was too bad you weren't able to come too! It sounds like you have been traveling quite a bit though. You should come up to Jackpine!
