Baptism

Some of the beauty I have been enjoying.

Baptism has long been an argued over subject. I am not quite sure why. As with any spiritual subject I think our best solution for finding an answer is to go straight to the Bible and see what it has to say on the subject. So I am not going to talk about what I think today but I will share some verses from the Bible that I do think are important:

Mark 16:16 NIV “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. “

Acts 2:37-39 NIV  “When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” ³⁸ Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 22:16 NASB “Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.”

Romans 6:3-5 NASB ³ “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? ⁴ Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. ⁵ For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, ⁶ knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; ⁷ for he who has died is freed from sin.”

1 Peter 3:21NASB “Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,”

Galatians 3:27 “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
