Same kind of different as me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore {A Review}

I recently got to read the book "Same kind of different as me". I wasn't quite sure what sort of book it would be and not sure that I would find it terribly interesting. It is a true story and a pretty amazing one!

  It is an autobiography of two men: Ron Hall and Denver Moore. It starts with telling of their lives when they are young, Ron in Texas and Denver in Louisiana. The chapters go back and forth between their two lives. I was horrified as I read of the near slavery that Denver (a black person) lived in and the abuse that he had to go through.

Eventually Ron and Denver's paths cross because of Ron's wife who wanted Ron to help her serve meals at a homeless shelter and then encouraged him to become Denver's friend. This book is a really neat example of how lives can change!

  I took several lessons from the book as I want to be more willing to go out and be a friend to those that don't always seem very lovable. I also don't ever want to practise "Catch and Release" with my friends. I want to be there for them even when they do go through hard times.

  This book was very well written and had a lot of encouraging food for thought. I also spent some time in tears while reading it and there are some really emotional parts to the story. I would recommend this book to others.
