A while back Tropical Traditions sent me some coconut oil that is special for using on your hair. It has a higher protein level than their normal Virgin Coconut Oil. I tried it out pretty soon, I rubbed it all over through my hair, let it sit for 30 minutes or so and then washed my hair (following the directions on the back of my bottle). Then I proceeded to have some very greasy looking hair for several days! My hair was probably feeling very renewed but I was feeling greasy!
I decided I had better do some more research! I think part of the problem the first time was that I used to much. People of some races might need more but my hair already leans toward being greasy. Since then I have rubbed it on my hands and then lightly rubbed it on the ends of my hair and through it a little bit and that has been much more successful.
I sometimes have problems with little hairs sticking up and looking frizzy along my part line, I used to use gel to make them behave. I have been using coconut oil lately and it works just as well and it is much more natural and smells good.
That is what I has been working for me as far as using it in my hair is concerned but I have enjoyed using it in some others ways as well.
Last week I tried making deodorant and I used a little bit in it. Coconut oil is a great addition as it is good for you skin. So far that is working very well and I am excited to have been able to make it myself with natural ingredients.
I have also really been liking to use the coconut oil on my skin. If my skin feels dry, I just rub some on. If I want to rub on some essential oil (like to help a sore neck) then I put the coconut oil on first and put the essential oil on top (otherwise the essential oil can be a little hard on the skin). Using it on your skin works great!
I am very thankful to have been able to try out this product. I might not use it completely as directed but I certainly will put it to use!! It would of course be great to use when making soap which I hope to do someday!
Do you think you would like to try this multi-purpose oil too?
If you would like to buy it you can find it at Tropical Traditions where it is selling for $19.95.
Someone will get to win a jar of it as well!

oh fun!!!
I love to make my own salve w/ four parts melted coconut oil, one part EVOO and one part Sweet almond oil (all orgainic) and then add in lavender oil! SO wonderful!!!
thanks for the giveaway!
I would love to try this! I like the lotion and salve recipes! Thank you!
This would be so neat! My hair is color treated and a bit dry on the ends (like you I do lean more towards greasy hair), so the coconut oil would be great!
I may try your deodorant recipe - how is it working for you?
I use Louanna's brand of coconut oil to fry food in - delicious!
my email is emilystrobel (at) embarqmail.com

Hi! I would love to win this and start trying out a new kind of oil. There are so many things I would use it for like my hair, skin, and some natural deoderant would be great! It sounds great! Thanks!
I use another coconut oil, but would love to try this on my hair....I'm not sure how it would on baby fine straight here?
Thank you!
I would love to do the deep conditioning treatment on my hair. I think it really needs it!
Hmmm...I'm thinking that I could try the coconut oil in place of the detangler spray that I use on my hair after washing.
I have used olive oil on my hair I wonder if this would work better?
I currently oil clean my face and I know coconut oil is a good addition to the olive and castor oil.
So great! :) I'd love to win this for my hair~ it's such a great product for that!
I don't think I would use it in my hair but I definitely would use it on my skin and possbily for soap making and to make deoderant.

Hi Abbi,
I would like to try this as a hair conditioner as well. I've been enjoying your blog, but I haven't commented on it.

I love coconut oil. This product sounds like it would be great for my naturally thick, curly, unruly hair. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
We started using CO a few years ago, but have never been consistent with it. It's not an easy purchase where we live, and truth be told, as much as I "play" on the Internet (read: blog and read blogs) I don't do much Internet shopping. Odd, huh?
At any rate, I have read only marvelous things about TT CO, and would love to try it. I have been to their site and see that they have put a great deal of effort into educating others about the benefits and breadth of use. They have an auto-ship option, don't they?
I am a TT newsletter follower :)

Hi Abbi. My name is Diane. I found this site while researching hypothyroid, as I have just been diagnosed with it,and all the research I have been doing, brought me to the virgin coconut oil. I have ordered some gold label virgin coconut oil from this site as I have heard nothing but wonderful things about it. I would love to try the coconut oil hair treatment, as now with the thyroid issue, my hair is so dry and unmanageable. calgarymoma@hotmail.com Thanks.
I would really love to win this. My hair is really damaged right now and would love to try it and see if it gets better. Thanks for the giveaway!!!
