Harvest Time

There is nothing quite so yummy as fresh food that you harvested. We have been enjoying that so very much lately! Here are a few pictures of the deliciousness (both to the tongue and the eye) that we have been enjoying lately...
New Potatoes! We planted quite a few this year and though we haven't been formally digging them I go up and reach down by the roots a bit and pull up these jewels for us to enjoy. They taste so good!
I love taking the basket up to the garden and filling it with good things.
A simple and yummy lunch: Boiled Eggs from our chickens and ducks, freshly made goat milk cheese (thanks to my parents goats!), and Kale, Green Beans, Cucumbers and Tomatoes from our garden.

Our parents apple trees are doing well again this year. We are so blessed and we are very thankful! I find the apples so beautiful.
So far we have put up apple pie filling and applesauce and we have enjoyed cooked apples, raw apples, apple cake and more. Thank you God for apples!

Have you been doing any harvesting lately? What is growing at your place?

Everything looks so wonderful! Nothing beats fresh veggies!

We still haven't managed a garden but Mark has been working some evenings and weekends putting up hay for friends who need help. We've enjoyed being "paid" in fresh corn, green beans, tomatoes, and onions. We are thankful to be able to help older folks who physically need the help and ever so thankful for the food and stories they have shared in the process.

This all looks so wonderful! I do miss the fresh vegetables from the garden my dear husband used to plant. Life is different for us now, but it is a GOOD different. Thank the Lord, we have a wonderful produce stand near us where we can go and buy the veggies now, and my husband doesn't have to work so hard for them. God is so good, and each season of our lives are blessed with His loving kindness. Thank you for sharing!

Our garden didn't do so well this year. We tried a bunch of new things and many didn't turn out - bugs, non-growth, etc. But we discovered a love for rutabagas! Those will definitely show up again in our garden!

That is neat that all of you are figuring out different ways to get fresh produce even if you don't have a garden that is producing a lot. :-)
