Lately I have been working to update my wardrobe a little bit. But I don't feel like spending a lot of money. I did splurge a little to buy new boots (I wanted leather dress boots and they aren't all that cheap) but hopefully they will last quite a long time. I did also buy a couple of new to me shirts at a second hand store but other than that I have been adding to my wardrobe a bit by doing some clothing remakes.
Since I got boots I thought it would be fun to make me some boot cuffs like we had made for Mara. They are basically leg warmers and they do work to add extra warmth which is generally always a good thing here in Northern MN. They are so easy to make. I just cut the sleeves off of an old sweater and hemmed up the end where I had cut. They work just fine!
I had some jeans with a hole in them so I decided the the boot cuffs could do double duty and also cover up the hole in my jeans (I know that often it is fashionable to have holes but I don't care for that to much and to have a open hole is also a little cold around here).
Boot cuffs to the rescue....
I don't actually prefer wearing them that high - but it worked.
Another recent addition to my wardrobe that I really like is a purple infinity scarf. This was some fabric that was cut off of the bottom of a skirt or dress and was in a bag of scraps that was given to me. It was already in a loop but had one raw edge. I just need to hem the one edge. So simple to do and now I have a scarf that I really like.
Happy me!
I don't think I will ever be someone that is at the cutting edge of fashion but it is kind of fun to do some wardrobe updates. :-)
What do you like to do to update your wardrobe a bit?

I love the idea of turning the scrap fabric into a scarf. I am going to go through my scraps this week and hope for a find that will work! You always have such wonderful ideas!
Hi Abbi, I too like re-purposing clothes, it's so fun! (sew fun!) ; )
Sometimes I will cut the sleeves of a longsleeve top into quarter sleeves, or make a sweet little v-neck out of an unflattering crewneck.
Loved your ideas here, really nice.
It's a blessing to meet other sisters in the Lord who like to do the same things, save money and get a kick out of it too!:)
It truly is an art isn't it?
Blessings!
These are great ideas, Abbi! You are always so creative to use what you have. :)
All of your additions are flattering. Thanks for the inspiration to make an infinity scarf.
Thanks so much ladies!
Amelia - I think I need to try your V-neck idea. I have never done that but I agree that they are much nicer looking.
