At the beginning of this year I had posted a list of goals that I had. One of them being to spend less on groceries. I had said that I would post how much that I spent each month. I am quite excited to announce that I spent only $202.60 on groceries last month. I really don't think we will be able to do that well every month but I am going to try my best. Ken said that we spent a lot less in some other areas as well.
If you have any great hints for lowering my grocery bill more I would love to hear them.

not any that would save you that much! How do you do that Abbi? You are amazing!
Very well done, Abbi!
That is an awesome budget for groceries for a family of 6! Plus you guys have guests a lot. You get my applause hun! Good job!
We used to go grocery shopping on the same day every week, and get the same stuff. Then we streched the food so it would last eight or nine days (I do not grocery shop on weekends! Too many people). Now we go about every two weeks to restock. We do one quick run to get milk and bread in between the two weeks but that is it. One key for this working for us is have hubby go alone to get milk and bread- he doesn't impulse buy. By doing this we went from spending $250 a month to under $120 a month. See how long you can stretch the groceries- I know this will help you save more money.
Wow- $200 for a family of six! I am so impressed. Do you have any in diapers and does that count towards your groceries? What about cleaning products and paper goods?
Great job on cutting costs!
Amazing
Thanks to all of you!
This is just our food costs. I do a lot of buying when things are on sale which I why I mentioned that I doubt I will be able to keep it this low every month. I will be keeping you posted and will try to let you know if I come up with any great ideas.
As far as cleaning products I spend very little on that as we used a lot of natural stuff and elbow grease. For diapers I use cloth most of the time at home (we do still have one in diapers) and then try to buy on sale for the disposables for when we are out. Toilet paper and kleenex I stock up on when they are one sale. Last month I was able to get tissues free after rebate and Walgreens plus make money on it so that was exciting.
I do agree with you CJ Sime that going less helps a lot. I don't consider myself an impulse buyer but I do end up getting more than is on my list. This especailly happens to me at Walmart so my recent decision to limit my time there to only once a month or less has helped a lot.
I think you are doing a great job. that is one of my goals for this year too. Keep up the good work.
