We wear a lot of denim here at our house. We enjoy wearing other things as well but denim is always a reliable standby that we like. Wearing a lot of jeans causes us to wear out a lot of jeans! That means I do quite a bit of patching. In November I patched over a dozen pairs. I finally figured out a pretty sturdy method that also looks pretty decent. It is a bit time consuming but I have decided it is worth it. The picture of Jonathan below shows him wearing some of the patched jeans. Here is my post explaining how I did it.
Not all of our jeans get mended however- sometimes they are stained or just don't fit right or otherwise don't work so then I try to make something else out of them instead. Here is my stash of jeans that I am wanting to make into something else:
I have some ideas and I hope to work on them this month! I hope you will join me as I blog about this project. Here are a couple of things we have made so far:A tote bag...
A book mark....
I would love to hear your ideas for using denim too! I would love to hear your ideas in the comments and if you have a post about it feel free to leave a link. I can always use more ideas!

I just made my son a Denim quilt for Christmas. It is wonderful!! So warm and cozy! I am also going to use denim to make curtains for the living room as we are going with an Americana theme and denim is a great sun blocker! I also love denim!!!!
These are great ideas, I especially love the bookmark idea. Thanks for sharing!!
I made a beautiful Rag Quilt our of jean squares and flannels/Tshirt like shirts for a lady who lost her mother. It was a great way to use jeans. I am in the process of making one for myself out of my daughters jeans she outgrew (I only have one girl and she is the youngest) and then just a bolt of flannel I got half off. I can't wait to finish it. You have a great idea on recycling them!
I have not made (yet -- I want to!) them, but I have seen cute magnets made from the pockets cut off denim jeans and trimmed with lace or other embellishments. They were presented at a craft show as filled with little notebooks and pens/pencils for keeping things handy on a refrigerator.
