This is one of those things that is foundational for everything else that I believe. In other words - very important!
Reason #1: The Bible says it!
John 20:31 " But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
Hebrews 1:1-2 "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe."
Hebrews 4:14-15 "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin."
John 3:16-18 " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
Matthew 3:17 "And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Reason #2: Jesus is the fulfillment of Prophecy
Here are a few examples...
Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”

The fulfillment is spoken of in Matthew chapter 2.
Jeremiah 31:15 "This is what the Lord says:
“A voice is heard in Ramah,
mourning and great weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more.”
mourning and great weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more.”
The fulfillment is found in Matthew 2:17-18
Isaiah 61:1 "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,"
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,"
Fulfillment found in Luke chapter 4.
I would love to hear your thoughts or any verses you like on this subject! The Bible is very clear on the subject that Jesus is the Son of God - He was with God in the beginning and is equal to God.
