A Homemade Valentines Day

I actually don't have things done for Valentines day yet this year, (We have been busy!) but I thought I would repost some of my ideas from last year.

The first picture shows a card that I made for Ken as well as a candy box that I recycled and filled with candy.

I also made Valentine packages for the kids. The present was a very inexpensive little treat and then I had lots of fun making heart shaped animal cards for them. For the cards I used all sorts of paper from Junkmail that we had received.

We had decorated all over with hearts and I pulled out a red and white tablecloth to make things more festive.  This year I am hoping to do something like this hearts with verses garland.

This is a closer picture of our hearts and snowflakes last year. We had fun using pictures from seed catologs to help make them pretty.

For Valentines breakfast last year we had heart shaped pancakes and chokecherry syrup. This year I am thinking I might do one of those big Perkins style breakfasts as that is what Ken really enjoys. You know, pancakes, omelet, hashbrowns and fruit. Or maybe slightly sweetened biscuits with strawberries and whip cream and a big omelet. We shall see. What do you think you will have?

Last year I made a heart shaped cheesecake for my sweetheart as well. We drizzled raspberry sauce over top.

Do you have any big plans for Valentines Day? I would love to hear any homemade ones especially!

This is linked up to Reinvented and D.I.Y. Day at a Soft Place to Land.

Lunch love notes.

Pretty much everyday (unless he has a lunch meeting) I pack Ken a lunch. Once in a while in that lunch bag I will pack a little love note.

It is just to remind him that I am thinking of him, I appreciate his hard work for our family and that I love him.

So today I am going to say "I love you" with a little note.

Praying with thanksgiving

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6

With thanksgiving to God, I am thankful for:

#381 Unexpected inspiration to clean my laundry room (i.e. the washer decided to overflow causing a flood their so some major cleaning was nessasary! ).

#382 Managing to drive up my parents rather slippery hill.

#383 Peace because of God.

#384  Beautiful weather and fun times skiing on Saturday.

#385 That we only got sore muscles when we crashed. (Our first major wipeouts while skiing.)

#386 A husband that I can have a lot of fun with!

#387 Legs and muscles that work. We really do take so much for granted!

#388 Getting to work with flowers.

#389 All the beautiful colors that God made!

#390 Sweet little kids. I love watching them play!

#391 Imagination. I love seeing my kids use that!

#392 Rest.

#393 God's Grace.

An Excellent Wife

Here is my inspiration for the day:

"An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil all the days of her life."
Proverbs 31:10-12

Give him a massage

When I started this series a blog reader, Alysia (who I have had fun getting to know through e-mails) sent me a whole list of ideas for showing our love to our husbands. I thought I would share a couple of them today.

~Give him a back massage. Not just a quick one, but a nice long massage, and talk while you do it. This works if the children are awake or in bed, but if you do it while they are awake, he will get maybe a few baby karate chops or children standing on his back! And, quick shoulder rubs or whatever hubby likes is ALWAYS good and easy to do=)

~Give HIM a pedicure/and or foot massage! Bring out the foot spa, or simple square plastic tub and surprise him with a nice foot soak and massage along with a nice hot tea (if he likes that)...I have found this works best to do after the children are all in bed!

This is something I have been thinking about today (and I have done a short shoulder rub for him) as we are both rather sore as we ended up crashing at one point out on the ski slopes yesterday. I know massages are defenitely something that shows my love to Ken. Here are some simple tips for massages.

If anybody else would like to e-mail me tips to include in this series I would love to hear from you! I may end up keeping the series going longer than a month.
