A Homemade Valentines Day

I actually don't have things done for Valentines day yet this year, (We have been busy!) but I thought I would repost some of my ideas from last year.

The first picture shows a card that I made for Ken as well as a candy box that I recycled and filled with candy.

I also made Valentine packages for the kids. The present was a very inexpensive little treat and then I had lots of fun making heart shaped animal cards for them. For the cards I used all sorts of paper from Junkmail that we had received.

We had decorated all over with hearts and I pulled out a red and white tablecloth to make things more festive.  This year I am hoping to do something like this hearts with verses garland.

This is a closer picture of our hearts and snowflakes last year. We had fun using pictures from seed catologs to help make them pretty.

For Valentines breakfast last year we had heart shaped pancakes and chokecherry syrup. This year I am thinking I might do one of those big Perkins style breakfasts as that is what Ken really enjoys. You know, pancakes, omelet, hashbrowns and fruit. Or maybe slightly sweetened biscuits with strawberries and whip cream and a big omelet. We shall see. What do you think you will have?

Last year I made a heart shaped cheesecake for my sweetheart as well. We drizzled raspberry sauce over top.

Do you have any big plans for Valentines Day? I would love to hear any homemade ones especially!

This is linked up to Reinvented and D.I.Y. Day at a Soft Place to Land.

I was flipping through a cookbook last night and ran across a recipe for pasta bolognese. We have a steak in the freezer that I've been trying to figure out how to stretch, so we might have that. We'll also have something with strawberries -- maybe chocolate cake with strawberry sauce -- because we have a lot of strawberries in the freezer from last summer, too. (Right now, the strawberry muffins are yummy!) I need to get out the heart placemats I made a few years ago, too.

I also have strawberries from last June that I plan on making strawberry shortcake for dessert and a strawberry flavored cake. We are having a Sunday St. Valentine's Dinner this coming weekend because today is my hubby's birthday (and we both are really busy), but we will celebrate this weekend with his mom, nonni and my parents and family.

Sounds great! I like those little heart shaped animals. I may try to do one myself for my daughter.

We've never done much for Valentine's Day. I need to change that. I've often had other life events going on during the same time (new baby, other things) so its been busy. This year my mom is actually visiting the same weekend. But maybe I could try heart shaped pancakes and dye them pink with beets! :)

Thanks for showing my garland love. I desire to be a Proverbs 31
woman with all of my heart. I fall very short of it far to often but is is my desire. Hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day.

God Bless,

Hi Abbi ~ Looks like you have got lots of great ideas for Valentine's Day! The things you did for your family last year must have made them all feel very loved indeed!! :) Ohhhh...chokecherry syrup sounds so yummy! I have made homemade blackberry syrup and it doesn't stay in our home very long...I don't think it's ever stayed in the cupboard past September. :)

Have a wonderful day!
Blessings,
Camille
