A New Experiment ~ Pita Bread

Today I had fun trying out making Pita/Pocket Bread. I had tried this before years ago and it flopped so I wasn't overly optomistic that it would work this time but I wanted to try.

I found this recipe and thought I would try it. I did use a larger percentage of whole wheat flour than in the recipe and then you have to use quite a lot more flour (than what is in the recipe) in the kneading process.

You bake them in a very hot oven and for the most part they rose beautifully!

They turned into pockets! Now my hope is that they work well for traveling food! And that everybody likes them.

The were pretty quick and easy and very frugal!

One of my very favorite snacks is pita bread with roasted red pepper hummus. So yummy! I've never made either, but I will have to try now.

I will have to try making it again...I tried pita bread about a year ago and it was really good. I made mine with spelt flour. We all loved them. They were neat to watch puff up in the oven!
