Ultimate Blog Party - About Me

Hello. Welcome to my little corner of the big World Wide Web!
Ultimate Blog Party 2013Today I am joining in on the Ultimate Blog Party hosted by
 5 Minutes for Mom.

Many of you may already know me (or at least feel like you know me if you have read my blog for a while) and so please excuse me while I introduce myself to the new visitors. Thanks to all of you (old or new) for visiting my blog - I so love having you come and then hearing from you!

My name is Abbi and I have been married to a handsome guy named Ken for 14 + years. God has blessed us with 4 wonderful children: Mara (age 13), Jonathan (11), Aaron (9) and Megan (7 next week).  We live in beautiful northern Minnesota. We have long winters (we still have a thick layer of snow and had another snowstorm just this weekend) but they are beautiful and the rest of the seasons are each so unique and lovely. We love it here! We have a home on a little over an acre of land that we are attempting to turn into a homestead.

The most important thing in life to me is my relationship with God. Jesus is the one who gives my life meaning and I wouldn't even want to imagine life without the help that comes from His Holy Spirit.

Next in line after my relationship with God is my family - we are passionate about spending time together as a family. We love to homeschool and do all sorts of things together!  Some of the things we enjoy are camping (the pictures above and below are of our camping/canoeing trip in the Boundary Waters last summer), biking, playing games, reading and making things together.

My Sisters and I (I'm wearing white)
I am also blessed to live in the same area as my parents and all of my siblings now live in the same state too (2 of them -there are 6 of us- recently arrived and I am pretty happy about that). We share a close relationship which is based on our mutual love for our God and Savior.

I also love very much God's church and am so thankful to be a part of it. I love my country and we do what we can to try to keep it founded on Christian principles and sticking to the constitution. I also feel blessed to have many friends whom I love dearly.

Some of the ways I enjoy spending my time are by gardening and putting up the produce that we grow so that we can use it year round.

I enjoy seeing just how much of our food we can grow on our own land. We try to live a natural and healthy lifestyle which includes what we eat and how we live in general. I realize there are still many areas I want to improve in but slowly we are getting there - meanwhile I am enjoying the journey!
Keeping bees has been one of the things we have learned how to do and God has blessed us abundantly in this. The more we learn about things like bees to more we are in awe of our Creator!

I also love making things and my children have learned to love that as well. We so enjoy working on projects of all sorts. The rag rug above was one of our projects from last year. We make rag rugs, sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch, carve, build (some and we want to do that more this summer!), paint, draw and more. There is always projects in progress at our house!

Ken and I also enjoy running our own businesses. Ken owns and runs an insurance agency and I have a Wedding Floral business that I run out of my home and I also teach piano and violin lessons.

We are abundantly blessed and I enjoy sharing about some of our many blessings on this blog. I enjoy writing about life here at our place where I am striving to be a Proverbs 31 Woman. I talk about projects that we make, what I am learning from God's word, homeschooling, parenting, marriage, homemaking, cooking, homesteading and more. If any of those topics interest you I hope you will stay and visit a while and then come back again another day!

I would love to hear about you too! Please leave a comment if you have a moment and introduce yourself!

Stopping over to say hi from the UBP! I also have a 9 year old son named Aaron, who will be 10 in June. My other children are 21, 18 and 12 (13 in June). Your life sounds very interesting, especially the keeping of the bees, of which I am allergic too. Have a beautiful week!
