New Lives for Old T-shirts {Lets Make a Wreath!}

 I wanted a new wreath for my front door and I also have been trying to use up old t-shirts so I decided to combine the two goals.

Here is what I started with: Some old t-shirts, a glue gun with glue sticks, a grapevine wreath base and a pair of scissors.

I decided to make some flowers to go on the wreath. A "Rose" is very simply to make. This is how I do it:

Cut a circle base (around the size that you want your finished flower to be) and also cut a strip of cloth (mine was around 1 inch wide). Tie a knot in the end of the strip and glue it in the middle of the circle.
 Then wrap the strip around the middle twisting and gluing as you go.
 Keep going until you get to the edge. You can add on additional strips as you go (to change colors or simply to make it bigger) and you can cut some off if it is to long. When you get to the end tuck a little bit of the strip under to the bottom side and glue into place. Cut off any circle edges that might be poking out.
 Then I decided to make some leaves (sorry these photos turned out a little blurry). I cut out a shape like above. Put some glue on one side and then folded it in half. That made it a little thicker and sturdier.
 Then I placed a little glue like shown above.
 Then I folded it together to give the leave a 3-D look.
 Then I glued the flowers on the wreath. I was thinking about having more colors than just yellow but I ran out of time before I had to get out of the house for a showing so I decided to hang it up like that. Do you think I should add more flowers? Do you think they should be other colors? I would love to hear your opinions!
It is a very simple wreath and it was fun and easy to make and I think it brightens up our front door a little. It also has stayed looking fine through a bunch of rainy days so that is a plus!

  Do you have a wreath on your front door? What does it look like?

Very creative. I like how you had a couple of goals (use up old t shirts and create a front door wreath) and combined them. You made something very pretty. I like the wreath having just the one color...I am a simple person lol. I am sure it would look beautiful with more colors too though!
