Daily Bible Reading Challenge

How did your Bible reading go this week? Did you grow in your understanding?

Here are some of my favorite verses and insights from the week:

What did I read that causes me to worship God more?
"But Moses said to the people, "Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. "The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent." Exodus 14:13 & 14

This just reminds me of the mighty power of God and His care for us. The Israelites were in an overwhelming situation and they had no idea that I could possibly work out - but God can do anything! He is still that same God today and He can take care of our overwhelming situations as well.

What scripture touched me heart?
"I do not ask on behalf of these along, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that you sent Me." John 17:20 & 21

Jesus prayed that those that follow Him- Christians - would be united. He wanted us to be united just like the Father and the Son were united. That is a pretty tall order but the reason He prayed for that is mentioned as well - So that the world would believe!!! What can we do in our lives to help Jesus prayer be answered? Can we seek to all know the truth of God's Word clearly so that we can unite around that, can we show preference to one another and truly love one another and be patient with one another?

What can I apply to my life?
"I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."John 15:5

A great reminder to cling ever nearer to Jesus. To spend time in prayer. To study God's word. To seek His will for my life. I want to abide in Him completely so that I can bear fruit!

Interesting Fact:
"But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I should go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict that world concerning sin and righteousness and judgement..." John 16:7 & 8

This is interesting because my first reaction, and probably yours too, is "How is it to my advantage for Jesus not to be here in the flesh with us?" Wouldn't that have been much easier? We could just point blank ask Him the questions that we have and we would have no uncertainty. But the things is - when Jesus came in the flesh - he really truly was in the flesh. So He wasn't everywhere at once. He only visited with one person or group at a time. He wasn't with anybody constantly. We now have a Holy Spirit that lives in us and is always with us and who will convict us and help us. That is truly better.

I would love to hear what you learned in God's word this week!!!

I prayed John 15:5 quite often this week. I want to be connected to the vine and flourish as the branches.

I looked at the first chapter of Mark this week and was really struck that when Jesus called people just up and left their living to go with him, would we do that today ? !
