"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1. Looking at our world we see so much evidence of an intelligent designer and in faith I believe the it was God who created all that. Nobody was around to observe creation so anything (whether the Biblical account or Evolution or anything else) is believed in faith. There is no other option.
"The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands." Psalms 19:1
Start looking around. Look up at the stars and study our great universe. It all points to God.
Our God is personal.
"God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world." Hebrews 1:1
God speaks to us. He didn't just create us and then leave us to our own devices.
"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is not creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." Hebrews 4:12-13
He see in our heart and knows us completely.
"Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them." Psalms 139:16
He created us and knows all about us.
There is one God.
"For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time." 1 Timothy 2:5 & 6
God is Strong and Smart!
"Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite." Psalm 147:5
God is a God of love.
"The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:8-10
He is a God of wrath.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is know about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them." Romans 1:18 & 19
He is faithful!
"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13
"For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; If we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He also will deny us; If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself." 2 Timothy 2:11-13
God is Holy.
"But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written "You shall be holy, for I am Holy." 1 Peter 1:15 & 16
He doesn't change.
"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." James 1:17
God is eternal.
"I say, "O my God, do not take me away in the midst of my days, Your years are throughout all generations. Of old You founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. Even they will perish, but You endure; and all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end." Psalms 102:24 -27
There is so much more that can be said about our Great God. There are so many more verses that I could share. But I don't have time to write them all out today. I encourage you however to read God's word faithfully for yourself (as I know many of you do!!) and find out from it what an amazing and wonderful God that we have! Also - look around you each and every day to see Him at work all around us.
What verses about God do your really love? What character trait draws you especially close to Him?
