Satisfaction

As I was washing dishes this evening I was thinking about all the things that give me a great feeling of satisfaction. I thought I would share them with you. You might think I am weird on some of them but I guess you might be right. What gives you a feeling of satisfaction? Here are mine:

  • Cleaning up a mess. Such as a dirty diaper, a stack of dirty dishes or a yucky toilet.
  • Wearing something out - all the way out. I love thoroughly wearing my clothes and shoes out. I hate throughing something away until it is completely no good anymore.
  • Creating order from chaos. Organizing something is very satisfying for me.
  • Weeding a section in the garden.
  • Using something up. I love it when I can figure out how to use up odd leftovers or tiny scraps of cloth or paper so that nothing goes to waste.
  • Studying and gaining insight from the Bible.
  • A day well spent. One that might be full of mundane activities but if I work hard, having a good attitude and get to spend loving time with my family, that is very satisfying to me.
  • And most of all having the Holy Spirit in my life and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The song "Who can satisfy my soul like You?" by Dennis L. Jernigan describes my feelings very well. Psalm 107:8 & 9 says "Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things."

Happy Valentines day to all of you! I hope you get to spend time with those you love. Also I hope you know the love of the One who loves you more than anyone else ever has or will. Jesus loved you so much that He died for you and He wants to be your Savior and Friend.

Hi Abbi! Well I would say that one of the most satisfying things for me is when I see smiles on my kids' faces for something I have done for them. Such as arranged a special activity or play date at the park with some friends or something like that. I just love to see their happy lil faces! Also to have JR come home and be very happy with the house and work I had done that day. He always makes it known when he is proud of me or whatever. I love the look on his face when he comes home to a hot meal on the table. That is the way to his heart for sure! Those are a few things that are very satisfying to me!

I know what you mean when you say you like to really use something until it is really, completely used. And then maybe figure out how it can become something else and have a whole new life again. Like squeezing the toothpaste all the way till every scrap of toothpaste is gone. You know you are probably saving a millionth of a penny, but it still feels good.

Katie, your example about the toothpaste is exactly what I was talking about!
